She took a photo of a comfortable jumper she had paired with a pink scarf that made her feel pretty, and her garage at night that lights up like it is part of a movie scene. "Even after my surgery I would take photos in my ward or I would walk two metres out of bed and see that it was a beautiful day, that I got to see the sun." "I would find something to feel grateful for every day. "I would find something beautiful or something that made me happy," she says. Having grown up in a small down on the NSW Central Coast, there was so much to discover in Sydney, the city that had become her new home.

"I felt relieved when they told me because by then I had spoken to my doctor and they'd said an aneurysm is better because it won't come back but the surgery is more risky. "I don't think I breathed properly for three days," she says. It took three days for doctors to confirm it was an aneurysm and not a tumour. If they hadn't found it, it would have eventually ruptured and I would be dead. "Normally they are around two millimetres. 'It pretty much looked like a really big floating thing, a blob in my head.' (Supplied) "I'd never heard of an aneurysm but later learned an aneurysm is a weak point in the artery that starts to bulge out and eventually rupture and bleed. "They didn't know whether it was an aneurysm or a tumour," she says. When her GP called the next day to send her to hospital for additional testing the next afternoon, she began to feel a flutter of anxiety. "I didn't panic, I was more in shock." she says of seeing the results of her MRI. Looking back, Elyn realises just how lucky she was that her doctor sent her for that MRI because if they had waited any longer, it is unlikely Elyn would still be here today.
